Providing community spaces to heal, connect, grow, and access culturally important food.

Community Food Access & Security

Beyond food production, New Roots gardens are safe and engaging spaces that promote mental and physical wellbeing and a sense of place. Through regular garden workshops and events, New Roots provides opportunities to connect with neighbors.

Community Gardens

Tukwila Village Farmers Market

In partnership with the Food Innovation Network, IRC New Roots co-founded the Tukwila Village Farmers Market (TVFM) to create an entry-level farmers market opportunity for New Roots farmers and market gardeners, and to increase access to fresh, affordable, and organic produce for low-income communities living in Tukwila.

TVFM accepts EBT, WIC and Senior FMNP, and provides SNAP Market Match and Heart Bucks to increase spending power.

Food Distribution & Community Markets

IRC hosts food distribution pop ups at community gardens and partner sites in South King County free to the community.

In partnership with Farestart, IRC is able to offer community mobile markets to increase access for IRC clients and community members through weekly free food distribution in neighborhoods with low food access and high immigrant and refugee populations.
